Dish Towel Best Care Tips:

Dish Towel Best Care Tips:

Whether you’re drying dishes, cleaning up spills, or adding a pop of style to your kitchen, your eco-friendly dish towels work hard. Follow these easy tips to keep them looking and performing their best:

Care Instructions:

Wash

  • Machine-Wash on Cold to Warm: We always recommend you use cold or warm water to preserve your towels vibrant colors, and reduce wear.

  • Avoid Bleach: Bleach can weaken fibers and dull the prints. Instead, use a mild detergent, or if needed, add vinegar to the rinse cycle for extra deodorizing power.

  • Skip the Fabric Softener: Fabric softeners are hydro-fobic! If you want your towels to stay absorbent, skip this step! The use of fabric softener actually reduces your towels ability to absorb. Stick to natural, eco-friendly detergents instead.

Dry

  • These towels are Tumble Dry Friendly! Low heat is best to prevent wear, but don’t worry—these towels can handle occasional high heat without immediate damage. We recommend low heat as best-care.

  • Air-Dry: Air-drying preserves fibers, keeping your towels nicest for the longest, though we know it’s not always the most convenient, but still a viable option!

Freshen Them Up!

  • Use Vinegar as a Natural Deodorizer: By adding a half-cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle, quickly neutralize odors that may come with use over time.

Humid climates are more susceptible to naturally occurring mildew, store towels in a dry place, and while in-use to prevent any “forgotten towel” smells always unwad, lay flat, or hang to dry.

Stain Removal Tips

  • Act Quickly: For best results, rinse stains out promptly with cold water, or get them straight to the wash! We personally have saved towels from dreaded red wine stains.

  • Use Baking Soda Paste: For tougher stains, make a paste with baking soda and water, apply, let sit, and then rinse before washing.

  • Gentle Stain Removers: For the toughest persistent stains, use a gentle, non-bleach stain remover that won't harm the fabric, the print, or the environment.

Important: Keep Away from Excessive Heat!

  • Not a Substitute for Oven Mitts: Since our towels are made from recycled materials, they’re not heat-resistant and can melt when exposed to direct heat. So, for anything hot, stick to regular oven mitts.

Our Towels are Best for Wiping Spills, Not Handling Heat: Keep them clear of excessively high temperatures.

End of Life

Unfortunately not all good things last forever. When that day comes, we proudly accept your worn, ripped, stained, well-loved towels back through our Textile Recycling program Render Renew! Once returned, your used towels will be sorted and re-recycled into either housing insulation, cushion fill, or in some cases will even be broken down back into the fiber we use to make our beloved dish towels.

We are still piloting this recycling program, and refining our process. For the most up to date information on Render Renew please subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us at support@rendergoods.com.
